In life there are soldiers and there are warriors. A soldier fights for what is behind him- Family, Honor, Country. A warrior fights also for what is ahead of him. Our society tells us that warriors are- FEARLESS MEN- who fight only to conquer and divide the spoils, but warriors of recovery are not such men. For these warriors know loneliness and despair and they know hopelessness to the edge of its existence. For they know a war of all wars
A Battle of all Battles!
The Fight of Self against Self!
When they finally weaken of what they thought was their strength, they become a true warrior. These warriors fight with a sword of truth, but also with a hug and a tear. They place principles before personalities. They accept their humanness and frailties and those of others. They do not covet people, places or things. They open themselves up to a SPIRITUAL way of life. They have emerged out of a great darkness- seeing their shadow, 1st as a mirror, then as a light and finally it becomes a beacon for others. They become noble not because they never fail, but because they always get back up.
These men and women know the battle from the inside out and fear, or no fear, have the Faith, Courage, and Willingness to walk the talk with compassion and honesty in effort to help their brother along the road, no matter where he starts.
